Glögg is the Scandinavian mulled wine, which is popular during the Christmas season. It is typically served with gingerbread or lussekatter and it differentiates from mulled wine served in the UK due to a few ingredient changes. Glögg is perfect for warming up a cold winter’s night, especially leading up to Christmas. This recipe makes 15 servings.
Ingredients2 (750 milliliter) bottles of fruity red wine
1 (750 milliliter) bottle port wine
1/4 cup brandy
Begin by simmering the red wine, port wine, cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, and orange peel in a large pot set over medium-low heat. Stir in the sugar, rum, and brandy. Continue simmering for another 5 minutes. Make sure to stir in order to dissolve the sugar. Do not let the glögg come to a boil. When it is hot enough and properly mixed then garnish each cup with a spoonful of raisins and almonds.
Cheers!
