White is a symbolic colour surrounding both Scandinavian interiors and winter – especially as the temperature drops and we all look towards Christmas! While we may not be spotting any snow yet here in London; that doesn’t mean we can’t get into the Christmas spirit and transform our homes in Scandi-style with a simple white and grey colour palette.
We spied some amazing Scandinavian home inspiration in the December issue of Elle Decoration and just had to share it with you! Titled ‘Seasonal Simplicity’, there was an abundance of inspirational homes and accessories that are perfect for creating a festive look! Among the homes featured were inspirational abodes from Denmark and Copenhagen. They truly know how to create an eye-catching aesthetic by incorporating white and grey into the rooms. Everything is given a fresh and clean look – perfect for letting Christmas trees and candles shine!
Simplicity is key, and choosing only the best home accessories is vital when going Scandi this Christmas! We noticed some familiar-looking house lanterns in this issue, and were delighted to see that they are a popular way of adding classic candlelit warmth indoors! Get the look with the white ceramic version of these house lanterns from Skandihome. Dress them up among pillar candles and candlesticks to create a haven of light!
A balanced combination of soft and hard furnishings and textures always makes for an inviting home at Christmas! The use of varying tones of grey and white in soft furnishings creates a feast for the eyes. When using a simple colour palette, textures come to the forefront. So don’t be afraid to layer up chunky knits with simple linens, and contrast those Scandi wooden floors with soft rag rugs.
We’ve got the colours and the accessories, now it’s time to sit back, relax, and dream of a Scandi white Christmas!
