Summer appears to have finally emerged here in London! In celebration, we’ve been scoping out some of the best places to quench your thirst and satiate your appetite with proper Scandi food!
DalaSven, our studio mascot has recently been to the Nordic Bakery, and enjoyed some traditional smoked salmon and dill on cream cheese and rye. It’s a lovely secluded spot, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the tastes of Scandinavia.
Along with the Nordic Bakery, London boasts more Scandinavian themed bakeries and restaurants. Scandinavian Kitchen is a cafe and grocery store, and has an online shop so you can purchase ingredients that really tingle your taste buds! There is also the Nordic bar for a tipsy evening affair with classic Scandinavian beers, vodka and cocktails.
Scandinavian food is just perfect for summer. It’s all natural and simple in the best way with fish, potatoes and vegetables (and of course pastries for sweet treat cravings). A traditional Scandinavian smorgasbord will include fish, then meats and warm dishes. Cheese is at the end, and lunch can be a long affair, lasting hours, so you can relax, sit back and enjoy all the delicacies on offer!
Try this recipe for a Smörgåstårta by PrettyPrudent. It’s a savoury sandwich cake – which does sound strange, but once you’ve tried it, you’ll be raving about it!.
