As with fashion, interior trends are usually guided by style, texture and colour. As a new year is upon us, we look forward to trends that we can expect to see dominating the interior world. Our belief is that a home should not be a showroom displaying how fashionable your home is – a home is to live in and should reflect your own personal taste. However, if you feel like your home needs an update, we have a few ideas on how to do so with a few easy tips.

A pale palette
Don’t underestimate the power of what could be considered as boring non-colours. White and light grey work as great base shades for any type of room – not only are they light so they don’t darken your interiors, they also work with any accent colour you might want in a room. If however you’re not going for white or grey bases, then think muted pinks, greens and light earthy tones – anything that will make the room light and bright is key.

Muted earthy accents
A bright pop of colour is still going to be on trend in 2015, but we will be seeing the addition of more muted colours brought into play. Think warm faded reds, dusky blues and moss greens.

A touch of botanical
As with the earthy greens that are set to be on trend this year, a more botanical feel is going to be popular in 2015 – whether that includes a botanical print, a leafy addition to your home or a fresh slick of green paint.

Silvery schemes & a pop of blue
While we’re anticipating muted tones to dominate the interior scene, blue will be popular this year, whether it be an aquamarine or more of a classic blue. This bright blue goes perfectly with a more silvery gray base to create a soft contrast.

A fusion of materials
Contrasting materials in a home give it a less matchy-matchy feel. Think mixed woods, metals and tiling with rugs and throws to warm things up.
