2016 was a roller coaster of a year, and now we now all look hesitantly to what the year ahead will bring. Luckily, the fashion houses of the world are predicting a bright 2017! Kicking off the Spring/Summer collections with daring colour palettes where bold colours shine care-free.
Ralph Lauren are all about feminine curves and block colours this season, with shimmery floor length gowns in bold primary colours. Scandi fashion giant Acne studios are making a statement with loose shapes and brave yellows combined with royal blues. Fashion accessories are making a bold statement too, we love this orange ‘Abbey’ bag from Mulberry, for anyone who is keen to show 2017 who’s boss!
At the recent Golden Globe awards, Natalie Portman joined in with a bright yellow dress from Prada. She was nominated for an award for her performance as Jacqueline Kennedy in ‘Jackie’ and definitely looked the part on the red carpet. Caroline Leaper from the Telegraph online explained how;
‘Portman chose to channel Jacqueline Kennedy’s unique sense of classic glamour on the red carpet. In her bespoke Prada gown with sequin details, Portman picked an almost identical shade of chartreuse to one that the former First Lady had worn to the Metropolitan Opera House in 1975’
The bold colour block trend isn’t just confined to fashion! We love to compare fashion and interiors, and this ‘Doris’ kilim style rug from Skandihome fits in perfectly with the bold colourful theme. We can definitely see this bold trend taking off in wardrobes and homes all over the UK and beyond! Bright colours bring such a positive vibe, and we’re glad to see that the catwalk is brimming with vibrancy for the year ahead. We hope it continues, and we just can’t wait to fill our wardrobes and homes to suit!
