As January gets well under way, we know that there are plenty of trade shows and exhibition dates itching to be written into our diaries! And as we set off into spring, the interior shows and events calendar starts filling up! There are lots of events that will bring lots of inspiration for design, and one of the cities soon to be full of top designers and creations is Stockholm. ‘Stockholm Design Week’ first started in 2002, and will run from the 7th – 11th February this year. The event has evolved into the ‘largest meeting place for Scandinavian design’ and the exhibitions are spread out all over the city. Sounds exciting doesn’t it? Well if you’re lucky enough to be able to go – there is plenty to see and do across a variety of different venues.

Some of the exhibitors include top designers Artek, String Furniture, Marimekko and Swoon to name but a few. There will be lots of 2017 collections unveiled, for buyers and window shoppers alike! Not only about taking in the beautiful designs, there are also venues that allow visitors to enjoy breakfast, dinner and even cocktails! Daytime is for viewing the companies and interior wonders on display, and evenings are for relaxing with a chance to meet the designers behind the collections. It is now a renowned event, and has become the ‘must-place to be for purchasers, architects, designers and journalists’.

The inspiration doesn’t stop at the exhibitions! If you have time, make sure you visit some of these amazing sights on your way between events!

1: Gamla Stan – Stockholm’s ‘Old Town’ -think cobblestone streets and beautiful buildings, including Sweden’s national cathedral, the ‘Stockholm Cathedral’

2: The Royal Palace – The King of Sweden’s residency, is open to the public – make sure you get to see the daily changing of the guard and parade!

3: The Museum & Swedish Music Hall of Fame – Okay so this may not be for everyone, but if you’re an Abba fan this is the place to see their songs, costumes, musicals and films immortalised in a permanent museum!
