Here’s a perfect example of a contemporary replica of living in the Swedish 1700’s.
The colour palette is light and pastel, using mainly white as the basis for all walls as well as beiges and light pinks through textiles mainly.
Now, this look is not achieved over night; it is the result of a long ‘hunting mission’.
Most pieces of furniture would have been sourced from various auction houses and antique shops. Some would have been re-painted and re-upholstered to fit the scheme.
What is also striking is the fact that most original features such as the kitchen cupboards and the Swedish ceramic stove have been kept to safeguard that authentic 1700’s feel. At the same time, more practical modern fittings have been added such as the built-in wardrobes in the corridor. It is about finding that balance between keeping the old original charm, yet adapting it to a modern way of living.
I hope you enjoy!
